Infusionsoft Custom Fields

In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to create a custom field inside of Infusionsoft.

Custom fields are extremely useful and they allow you to store all kinds of information about your contacts.

After you log in, go to Admin -> Settings

Then click on “Go” with Contact selected in the drop down.

You’ll be presented with 3 options in the drop down:

Tab

This will create a new Tab, as the name indicates, inside Infusionsoft. I like to think of this as the “top level” category. You can have a Tab called “Affiliate” and store all affiliate-related information within the Tab.

Header

After you click on Tab, you can then see the “Headers” which is really just the Heading. If you had an Affiliate Tab, then you can have Headers like “Affiliate Websites”, “Payout Information”

Finally we have field which is where the actual information is stored.

Custom Field Types

You can have the following Field Types in Infusionsoft:

  • Currency
  • Date
  • Date/Time
  • Day of Week
  • Drilldown
  • Email
  • Month
  • List Box
  • Name
  • Whole Number
  • Decimal Number
  • Percent
  • Phone Number
  • Radio
  • Dropdown
  • Social Security Number
  • State
  • Text
  • Text Area
  • User
  • User List Box
  • Website
  • Year
  • Yes/No

The most common one that you’ll use is “Text” but the rest do come in handy when fields need to be formatted a particular way. For instance, if you chose a field as a “Date”, then it would look like this:

You can use Custom Date Fields in Infusionsoft’s Campaign Builder.

For example, let’s say that you’ve asked your contact when they’re likely to purchase a new flat. They say in 6 months time.

You can deliver communication such that they get less emails now but progressively more as the contact gets closer to the 6 month mark.

You can set up a Campaign within Campaign Builder such that:

  • 3 Months from [Custom Date] -> Send Email: “Property Research You Should Do 3 Months Before Purchase”
  • 1 Month from [Custom Date] -> Send Email about “10 things to Consider When Purchasing Real Estate”
  • 3 Weeks from [Custom Date] -> Send Email about “How to Choose Real Estate Agent that Brings Value”
  • 2 Weeks from [Custom Date] -> Set Reminder to Call Prospect

On the more advanced side, let’s say that you’ve captured your contact’s birthday. You can set up Campaign Builder to send out a birthday card 1 week before their birthday and then on the day of their birthday, send an email to say, “Happy Birthday! Hope you received your birthday card from me”.
